Carlsbad Jet Center FBO
Howard Construction was engaged to complete the full tenant and ramp improvements for the Carlsbad Jet Center Fixed Base Operations (FBO) facility, located at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, California. The project focused on delivering a fully operational and high-performance aviation facility within an existing pre-engineered metal shell structure.
Scope of Work
Our team managed all remaining tenant improvements and exterior site upgrades required to bring the FBO to full operational status. Construction elements included:
Interior Build-Out: Installation of metal stud framing, drywall systems, acoustical ceilings, interior doors, casework, solid surface countertops, and custom millwork.
Architectural Finishes: Flooring, glass and glazing systems, premium paint finishes, and specialty wall treatments.
MEP Systems: Complete integration of HVAC, plumbing, fire sprinkler systems, electrical, and low-voltage/data infrastructure to meet both code and operational demands.
Ramp and Airfield Improvements: Asphalt and concrete paving, surface repair and replacement, which consisted of removing 250,000 square feet of asphalt, provide a cement treaded subgrade to a depth of 15”, all while coordinating with the airport authority to ensure safety and compliance with taxiway and ramp requirements.
Final Commissioning: Coordination with the City of Carlsbad, building department, and airport stakeholders to secure a Certificate of Occupancy and final project acceptance.
